Testimony from Julia Brown

On July 17, 2012

Hi! My name is Julia Brown, and I am a senior at OU. My major is Health and Exercise Science, and I also have a minor in Spanish.

I grew up in a Christian home and received the Lord as my personal Savior at the age of five. During my childhood, I participated in Bible studies, Church camps, Sunday meetings, etc. You name it; I did it. I believed in the Lord and had faith in God, but God didn’t seem to be my God. He was more of my parents’ God. I had a few family tragedies and other difficult situations happen during my late childhood, and I would say this is when I truly began to experience the presence of God. In Phillipians 4:7, Paul talks about a peace that “surpasses every man’s understanding.” I truly felt that this peace was covering me during these times, and this is when my faith in God really took a jump-start. I continued to pursue the Lord and strived to give Him the first place in my life throughout my teenage years. I was blessed to live in a family who read and cherished the Bible, and many seeds were planted in me during those years.

Upon my arrival at OU, I knew that I wanted to dive right into a campus ministry. I began meeting with a lot of the students with Christians on Campus, and my spiritual life grew even more! I was learning so much more about the Bible, fellowshipping with students my age, and enjoying this rich Person. I feel so blessed to be a part of the Christians on Campus community. Through this club, I am able to daily pursue the Lord with others who have the same heart for Him. I have never been so happy! Praise the Lord!
