My Testimony

My name is April and I was born and grew up in Oklahoma .  I received the Lord during junior high, but after that, I did not know how to have a relationship with the Lord.  I started OU in the fall of ’01.  I was enrolled in the Gateway class that introduces students to college life.  One assignment for the class was to attend a meeting of any club on campus.  Although I wasn’t too excited with the thought of this assignment, I decided to go to a Bible Study.  In the student newspaper, I found some information about a Bible Study with Christians on Campus that was in the Union . 

My intention was to attend that one Bible Study and then be finished with the assignment.  I expected that the Bible Study would just be a social gathering without much Bible content.  However, I was surprised to learn that this Bible Study was much different.  I met some believers who were the most sincere and pleasant people I had ever met.  The Bible Study was over Romans and was incredibly rich.  I was very impressed with what was spoken at the Bible Study.  I had never before heard such sweet words as those spoken that day.

The following week, I constantly thought of that Bible Study and I looked forward to joining it again the next week.  When I came back the second week, I was touched that they remembered my name and were so happy to see me.  I was also glad that the Bible Study was just as enjoyable as the week before. It was clear and easy to understand, but also showed a depth to the Bible that I never knew was there.   I was excited to learn that I could so readily have the riches of the Bible revealed and explained to me. 

I attended that Bible Study weekly and soon starting having appointments, which are small group Bible Studies.  I love the appointments because they are so life-giving and full of truth.  From each appointment, I received so much life and my vision of the Lord and His purpose was made clear.  Since that time, I can testify that I have developed a personal relationship with the Lord and that I enjoy daily fellowship with others who also pursue the Lord.
